Marjorie Taylor Greene and my dad want you to know about “vaccine failure.” So do I.

Meme from the Interwebz.

Last week, my father sent me an email forward that read, “It will be most interesting to watch the Covid fiasco fall apart. Since they exposed all of the doctors’ false Covid death diagnoses, there have been NO covid deaths recorded here. Covid was created by Fauci’s lab in China to regulate the population. Social Security will be safe once they kill off all of the retirees, the sick and the disabled. But, this is only my opinion (arrived at thru careful research).”

He didn’t write that, I can tell. He’s 84. He would never type “thru.” Regardless of who wrote it, I still can’t believe he sent it. Back in 2016, I told him to please stop sending me political emails, which he did. Until last week, when he sent the above note along with a URL that went to a YouTube rival called Rumble.

Previously home to homespun birthday party footage and cat videos, in 2020, the site became the platform of choice for California’s Republican Rep., Devin Nunes. That’s when everything changed. As YouTube began cracking down on disinformation campaigns, Rumble went mad for them. Now the site is the leading outlet for conspiracy theories and disinformation campaigns.

Even without knowing anything about Rumble, I knew better than to watch. I simply responded by reminding him we’d agreed not to send political stuff, but I was glad he’d gotten a vaccine; I credited his scientific background as a metallurgical engineer for that, hoping it might kick in. Way back in the 1970s, he was preaching about the adverse effects of greenhouse gases. Remember when airplanes sometimes fell apart? He figured out alloy solutions that made the metal strong enough to withstand the rigors of high altitude flight. His mind used to be really good with information.

I’d put the matter behind me until a few days later when my sister replied to say that the doctor in the video was merely a nurse practitioner with two PhDs in philosophy and economics. What did she know? Crap. Now I had to watch that video. Those are some pretty…
